A rare copy of this travelogue from 19th Century West Coast America to San Francisco The second edition, with a new introductory chapter. Illustrated with a frontispiece map. In the publisher's original blind stamped cloth.This work was written by W. F. Rae and provides a travelogue of the author's journey to San Francisco via the Transcontinental Railroad. In the publisher's original cloth. Externally generally smart with a slight lean, fading to the spine, damp stains to the head of the front board, minor marks to the boards and small closed tears to the cloth to the tail of the front board and spine. Front hinge tender with minor marks to the endpapers. Internally binding starting in places with pages lightly age toned to the extremities with occasional light spotting, heavier to the rear. Good

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
