About This Item

Dust Jacket: The spine is markedly and uniformly toned due to prolonged light exposure while stored in a bookshelf. Storage must have been in a horizontal position covered by another smaller book. A similar uniform toning is noted on the outer perimeter of the DJ (photos). The inside panels are stained, possibly humid-related. Fortunately, the overall structural integrity and appearance are not compromised by this neglect. A protective Mylar cover has been expertly installed permitting ready access by the new owner (photo).

Book: Pebbled cloth board and spine. String binding. Apparent moisture damage on pastedown pages. Structural integrity is not compromised, the book is sturdy and firm and lies flat, plumb, and square.

No marks or entries, all pages and illustrations are present. Uniform moderate toning on the page edges. The publisher's production standards and techniques were quite crude compared to contemporary standards. It is quite remarkable this book has survived as well as it did.The DJ is wrapped in protective Mylar clear cover for ease of handling.

Very Rare. Provenance is unknown and intriguing. Stickers and pencil markings suggest that this book has been through the hands of perhaps as many as 3 book dealers over its 61-year lifetime. All were English speaking and used dollar sign markings. The most recent list resale price (unknown, but very old, date) was $175. Stickers were left undisturbed.

Additional photos and description on request.

Tristao Braganca e Cunha is acknowledged as the Father of Goa's Nationalism and was the first Goan freedom fighter tried in 1947 by the Territorial Military Court and subsequently deported to Portugal.
This book is an edited translation from Portuguese of files and documents of Cunha's controversial trial in the Territorial Military Court in Goa as well as the Supreme Court of Judicature in Lisbon. This renowned Goan humanist was honored posthumously by the World Peace Council in Stockholm in 1959 for his eminent contribution to the cause of Peace and Friendship among peoples. Cunha died in 2000 a national hero.
