First edition, first impression. The first book in the Karla Trilogy and a highlight in the spy fiction genre.
Original black cloth with lettering to spine and motif to bottom corner of upper board in gilt. Crease to top corner of front endpaper, half-title and title page, near fine otherwise with top-stain still present.
The original and unclipped dust jacket has some of the usual fading to spine panel and a couple of very minor instances of rubbing to top edge, else near fine.
