Beautifully illustrated in black and white and colours, some of the illustrations not previously published. Douglas Martin interviewed all the artists discussed and reports many of their own comments on background, influences and techniques. There is an almost complete bibliography of each artist's work. The artists: Charles Keeping, Faith Jaques, Victor Ambrus, Nigel Lambourne, Brian Wildsmith, Shirley Hughes, Raymond Briggs, Helen Oxenbury, John Burningham, Janet and Allan Ahlberg, Quentin Blake, Anthony Browne and Michael Foreman.
