About This Item

New York: The Century Co, 1909. Hardcover. Good Plus/No dust jacket. New York: The Century Co., 1909. 7 5/8 x 5 1/4 inches: pp. (14), 255, (2). Reddish brown cloth with elaborate border illustration and design on front board, titles and illustration in black gilt. With 17 illustrations and frontispiece photograph of Roosevelt on horseback, taken by Alexander Lambert, M.D.

Boards have edge and corner wear, rubbing. Spine is sun faded and has a few spots, possibly liquid. Some writing on upper corner of free facing end page, in pencil and colored pencil - looks like old pricing or book store cataloguing information. Some spotting on fore edge. Indentation on bottom edge of first few pages. Text is unmarked. Binding tight. According to the publisher's note, Theodore Roosevelt had a life long interest in Western history and ranching lore. He "penned most of the fascinating pictures of fontier and ranch life" at Elkhorn, his Dakota ranch.
