Front jacket flap price-clipped, a few minor tears to jacket edge. 1937 Hard Cover. vii, 235 pp. Silver Chief is the son of a Husky whose father was a wolf. After his mother is killed he hates all mankind until a Canadian Mountie, Jim Thorne, shows him kindness and tames and trains him. In this book, Thorne and Silver Chief arrive at an outpost with serum to save the outpost from diptheria outbreak. Later in story Silver Chief is accused of stealing trappers' furs and Thorne sets out to clear his name. Book is richly instructive in the lore of hunting, trapping and sledging.
