To which are added letters written during a journey from Calais to Geneva, and St Bernard, in the year 1814. With an appendix containing a few original letters and anecdotes of the late Madame Elizabeth de France. Published to assist in providing free seats for the poor of Swansea by enlarging the parish church.

Bath: Richard Cruttwell, 1815. ii and 159 pages. Frontispiece portrait of Villettes. Contemporary marbled boards skillfully rebacked in quarter calf.

Bound with a 40 page Postscript to the Letters Written in France which was also published by Cruttwell in 1815.

The first 20 pages are a bare record of Villettes' services. There are a few anecdotes about him in the letters which were written by Bowdler, who was executor to Villettes' estate, while he was on his way to visit Villettes' sister in Switzerland. The 26 page appendix has letters written from The Temple by Princess Elizabeth, youngest sister of Louis XVI, in the months before she was guillotined. Trumansburg, NY: Out of Step Press. Fine with no dust jacket. 2016. Numbered Edition; First Printing. Pamphlet. The author's non-linear poem about the billeting of soldiers in civilian homes in wartime. Copy 89 of a limited edition of 250. Folded into the form of a letter, the work was letterpress printed in wraps of handmade "combat paper" made from military uniforms. The author says: "Some time ago-maybe a year, maybe two? I had a conversation with some of my Combat Paper brothers (well, the kids call them their combat paper uncles, so it follows…) that led to me writing the poem "Quartering." Which was informed by them, of course, and by all the rooms I'm in, and by imagining what is really required of all the caregivers I love.
