He earned his law degree at Olinda and his doctorate at Yena. Sinimbú was the first native-born president of Alagôas following the transfer of the capital to Maceió. Sinimbú's many appointments included minister to Uruguay, deputy to the provincial assembly, senator of the Empire, and president of the provinces of Rio Grande do Sul and Bahia. He held the position of minister of foreign affairs , justice, and agriculture. Sinimbú was a member of the Ordem da Rosa, Ordem da Christo, the Legion d'Honneur, the Austrian Order of the Iron Crown, and the Hanoverian Guelphic Order.
