New York: Thomas Y. Crowell Co, 1890. First Edition. First printing. Large octavo; publisher's half-morocco over cloth-covered boards; xii,354pp; engraved frontispiece, text illus. In the publisher's deluxe morocco binding (there was a simultaneous cloth issue). Rather rubbed at joints and board corners, though leather has been recently conditioned and treated for stability. Internally quite clean and fresh; hinges sound, text generally unblemished with a few scattered and mild spots foxing; Very Good. DORNBUSCH I: M13B. NEVINS I:95, "Very readable memoirs of a Mssachusetts soldier...many chapters first appeared in the Century Magazine.
