First Edition/First Printing ("First published 1914" on copyright page). 238 pages with Index; with 76 illustrations including tissue-protected frontis. Translated from the Italian by J.E.C. Eaton. Rey was an Italian mountaineer who specialised in Alpine ascents. He later became a fine and noted art photographer. Provenance: armorial bookplate of William C. Ferguson on front pastedown. Showing some typical wear and toning to exterior and prelims. First Edition. Cloth. Very Good. Quarto.
