About This Item
Easton Press, 1991. First Edition. Full Leather. Near Fine/No Jacket as Issued. A handsome dark red full leather First Edition signed by the late Stephen Ambrose. In Fine, unread condition save for some very minor marks on the gilt edge. These Easton Press editions signed by Ambrose have become scarce in the last decade. An important edition made special by the signature of the famed historian, professor and popular author. Easton Press editions are bound for decades of use. This edition features all the key features of an Easton Press publication including gold gilt cover designs and page edges, moire silk endpapers and a bound-in place marker.
Some collectors have the Lord of the Rings trilogy, while others have Stephen E. Ambrose's Nixon trilogy. This 1991 third and final installment delves into the life history of U.S. President Nixon. Preceded by "Nixon: The Education of a Politician" and "Nixon: The Triumph of a Politician," this edition chronicles Nixon's tenure during his 1972 re-election campaign, the Watergate scandal, and his eventual resignation. Ambrose also delves into the social and personal dimensions of Nixon's life.
Notably, Nixon declined an interview for this book, although many of his aides and associates spoke to Ambrose. Despite Nixon's concerns about a perceived "left-wing" bias, reviewers of the time generally found the coverage levelheaded.
Ambrose achieved acclaim for his biographies of U.S. Presidents Eisenhower and Nixon, as well as his profiles of generals Emory Upton and Henry Halleck. He penned many successful best sellers, including "Band of Brothers," "Citizen Soldiers," "Nothing Like It in the World," and "The Wild Blue.
