Demy 8vo. 5.25 x 8.5 in. 984 pp. Original white cloth, titled in gilt on spine with red and black blocking; in dust jacket with lettering by WALTER KÄCH. Authorized translation from the Norwegian to German by J. SANDMEIER and S. ANGERMANN. Complete, three books in one, containing Der Kranz, Die Frau, and Das Kreuz. Text in German. A lovely edition of the German translation of Kristin Lavransdatter. This copy belonged to Dr. Ludwig Kempe, German-American neurosurgeon, ornithologist, and illustrator, retired colonel in the U.S. Army, asst. chief of neurosurgery at Walter Reed, etc. etc. His bookplate to front pastedown, embossed stamp to front flyleaf, along with two drawings and ownership signature. Uncommon in jacket.
