About This Item

New York: Four Winds Press. Very Good+ with no dust jacket. 1972. First Edition; First Printing. This is the original 1972 first edition of this title--not a later printing. "Containing all manner of curious, interesting, and out-of-the-way information drawn from American folklore, and not to be found anywhere else in the world; as well as jokes, conundrums, riddles, puzzles, and other matter designed to amuse and entertain--all of it most instructive and delightful. Collected by Duncan Emrich. Illustrated by Ib Ohlsson." Contains 64 pages of notes and a bibliography in the rear (pp. 303-367). Original orange cloth covers with black spine and cover lettering. There is just a little shelf wear to the top and bottom of the spine, else this is a nice clean, tight and unmarked book with no interior or exterior markings, no owner names and no bookplates. Usually cataloged as a juvenile book, however, given the research, the sophisticated writing, and the topics, also appealing to adults. ; B&W Illustrations; 8vo, 8"- 9" tall; 367 pages .
