About This Item
Sagamore Publishing, 1998. Hardcover. Fine/fine. Oversized hardcover in black cloth with gilt spine lettering. Fine in bright, crisp dust jacket. 271 pp. with statistical appendix of players. Illustrated throughout with photos. A celebration of the Philadelphia Flyers of the NHL with player by player stories, interviews, and photos. The Flyers came into being as an NHL expansion franchise in the 1967-68 season. They would go on to become the first expansion team to win the Stanley Cup in 1974 and followed with another in 1975. In those years, under coach Fred Shero, they earned the nickname "Broad Street Bullies" from their rough style of play but that did not keep them from continuing a decade of excellence. They were led by Bobby Clarke, goalie Bernie Parent, Bill Barber, Dave Schultz. Joe and Jimmy Watson, Ed Van Impe and others. The book floows the team into the 1990s as well.
