London: D. Midwinter, A. Bettesworth and C. Hitch, 1737. Tenth Edition. Hardcover. Very Good. 8vo. [2], 5-518, [10] pp. Contemporary full calf with the spine in six compartments. Illustrated with a frontispiece, wood-engraved. Written around the time of the English Civil War, Howell's publication reflects upon the tumultuous English politics of his day. Here he writes suggestions on how individual Brits can best serve society. Howell's work also reflects on his days traveling during the early part of the seventeenth century. A burnt spot on the front board, the front joint beginning to split, an armorial bookplate on the front pastedown, a few historical ownership markings on the free front endpaper.
