ISBN 978-1553100942. Size is octavo (8vo), 9.375"/24cm h. Bound in publisher's red cloth, gilt lettering imprinted to spine. Glossy color pictorial dj, illustration by Jason Van Hollander. Plain white endpapers. Viii pp prelim material, 375 numbered pp, plus one blank. Editors' introduction, thirty tales, sources, bios acknowledgements. Condition notes: A lovely, clean, tight, square, unmarked copy. Light wear to dj, a faint smudge to tail edge, a few faint scratches to front board. Else unmarked. A handsomely bound anthology of contemporary storytellers of the macabre. Of this collection, the dustwrapper says "In these tales, the dead and the living meet in landscapes that are at once familiar, yet terrifyingly strange, where ordinary rules do not apply, and where the dead are sometimes the fortunate ones." Leading off with Simon Kurt Unsworth's 'The Church on the Island', closing with Barbara Roden's 'The Palace'; sandwiched between are stories by John Llewellyn Probert, Melanie Tem, Kealan Patrick Burke, Simon Bestwick, and many more. Furrowed Brow Books was established in 2020. The bookstore's owner, Paul Purman, grew up in an old farmhouse full of books. Paul had been providing online booksales since 2008 through several popular online sales venues. In 2021 Paul was accepted as a member of the Independent Online Booksellers' Association (IOBA), and graduated from the annual Colorado Antiquarian Book Seminar (CABS-Minnesota).
Furrowed Brow Books' goal is to offer an eclectic selection, while providing specialty offerings in Eastern Orthodoxy and Byzantine civilization, theology, Christian mysticism, science fiction/fantasy (Inklings emphasis), and military history.
