About This Item

Original green buckram gilt. 8vo. pps.xi + 268 + advertisement leaf at end. Cloth unevenly faded but o/w in very good condition. Presentation copy from the author on the front free end-paper to Norman Maccoll, editor of the Athenaeum in which a number of these poems originally appeared. Also inscribed from the author to Alice Swinburne, the sister of the poet Charles Algernon Swinburne, the inscription inverted on the rear end-paper probably in error. Small book labels of Simon and Judith Nowell-Smith on front fixed ep.
