About This Item

Boston: Houghton Mifflin, 1951. A complimentary Edition for the Booksellers of America. This is one of the first 400 copies of Chosen Country to come from the bindery, each of these 400 copies is autographed by the author. 8vo.8-5/16" x 5-11/16" 485 pp. Grey paper covered boards with tan cloth spine. Stamped in silver. Book in fine condition/Dust jacket shows a little wear at the edges. Overall very good.. Chosen Country is a novel about two people who were meant for each other. Such a marriage is more rare than the screen Writers would have us think: and perhaps more common than we might infer from a reading of Louella Parsons. That kind of happy meeting is not made in a single lifetime. To understand it we must turn back the generations and see the making of family tradition and family character. We need to watch personality flower from this main stem in more than one era and thus learn the ancestral sources of courage and integrity, of humor, constancy, and love, and finally we must understand good coincidence that allows two paths that wander in the maze of humanity to meet.
