About This Item

Garden City, NY: The Crime Club, By Doubleday Doran, 1934. First Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket. The interior of the book is clean and tight. There are two signatures on the front free end paper, but no other marks or wear. The black covers are also in very good condition, with just a bit of light wear at tips and corners, and one small dent at the bottom of the front cover. The red spine lettering is bright and complete. Sadly, there is no dust jacket. Synopsis: "Susan Dare is a charming young writer of mystery stories who has long pursued clues on paper with relentless logic, but who has never encountered an actual murder. Then came that eventful week at Christabel Frame's -- where she first met Jim Byrne. Meeting Jim Byrne was a turning point in Susan's life. That resourceful young reporter had a faculty for being where things happened -- before they happened. Susan found herself involved in rapid order in the case of the monkey and the ventriloquist; the affair of the Easter Island devil and the frightened wife; the case of the calico dog; the mystery of the claret lipstick, and the secret of the tragic-eyed ballet dancer.
