About This Item
London: Elkin Mathews and John Lane, 1892. Reprint Edition . Hardcover. Very Good. 16mo 6" - 7" tall. Clearly enough an early reprint but, thankfully, with the original title page bound in anyway. This edition's title page is dated 1892 (London: Elkin Mathews and John Lane), and the original title page follows (London: Kegan Paul, Trench, & Co., 1887). Bound handsomely in blue cloth over beveled boards, light wear to exterior, bumping to spine head and foot, still sharp and distinct gilt lettering to cover and spine, including "1887-92" to spine bottom, top edge gilt, rough-cut fore- and bottom-edges. Particularly fine previous owner's bookplate inside front flap (George Herbert Wailes). An evocative black-and-white frontispiece inset by W. Strang and with additional black-and-white illustrations hors-texte. Head and tail pieces by J.B. Clark. 72 pp.Member, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards. Additional postage may be required for oversize or especially heavy volumes, and for sets.
