Edinburgh; W. & R. Chambers, 1836., 1836. Hard Cover. SECOND EDITION. 12 mo, pp. iv, 164. Vignette to title page; fish and hook illustrations and fish-pond diagrams within text. Later dark green quarter morocco with light green cloth covered boards; top edge gilt. A Very Good copy. Spine a little rubbed to edge and a hint of soiling to endpapers, otherwise clean & tight. Early account of sport north of the border, covering rivers and lochs, tackle and bait, the various types of fish, artificial fish ponds and the angling districts of Scotland. Stoddart (1810-1880) published verse on angling, some of which appear in this text, and was a campaigner against pollution in water courses.
