Contains a brief outline of the Second Grinnell Expedition, which the author accompanied as surgeon; and, in detail, his account of a four-months journey, in the autumn of 1854, of a party from the expeditions winter quarters, to the regions of Rensselaer Harbor, towards Upernavik, and return; their boating and sledging along Smith Sound, and the west coast of Greenland. Includes comments on the physical features, botany, the hunting and the Inhuits of the region.
