Presentation copy, Inscribed by the Author, 1st ed, Near Fine, 1894. In full green morocco (by the Chelsea Bindery), gilt edge tooling & gilt horse head vignette (of Rashid). Spine, gilt tooling, titles & palm trees. Internally, half title, frontis (coloured), title page in red & black with Arabic text woodcut, [5], (vi-xix), [1], [3], 4-144, 147-148, 145-146, 151-152, 149-154, 159-160, 157-158, 161-256, 263-264, 259-262, 257-258, 265- 411 pp, [1] (odd pagination but complete), 11 un-numbered pls (mostly coloured, with 2 double paged) + 1 gilt board head, 25 illustrations within text, 4 tables, 1 map to pocket at rear (large folding coloured), a.e.g., gilt board edges & turn ins, green marbled endpapers, binders stamp to fpd, printed by William Blackwood and Sons. Inscribed by the author to Sir Alfred Lyall in the year of publication, also with Lyall's ownership inscription and tipped in printed leaf of verse by him entitled 'A Hard Bargain' about the sale of an Arab horse. (Podeschi 258. Loder 395). 4to, (309*231 mm). A lovely copy of an important title. Title continues: With Portraits of Typical or Famous Arabians and other illustrations also a map of the Country of the Arabian Horse, and a descriptive glossary of Arabic Words and proper names. "Tweedie was appointed as Resident of Turkish Arabia in Baghdad in 1881,[4] a role which involved inspecting all aspects of local life, including the trade in Arabian Horses which he was especially interested in.

However this does not mean that automatically goods are sent out on approval. Any return is entirely the responsibility of the returnee, and the Post Office is the preferred carrier. CANCELLATIONS & REFUNDS You may request to cancel a book order or return a book within 14 days of receipt of the book. A book may be returned for one of the following reasons: Item damaged: The item was damaged during shipping. Item not as described: The condition of the book does not match the description on Madoc Books. Incorrect item delivered: The title, cover or edition of the book is different than the title on the order. Item not received: The estimated delivery date has passed and the book has still not arrived. To cancel a book order or return a book simply contact Madoc with your order confirmation details and to obtain the return address.

DELIVERY DETAILS We ship all of our orders via Royal Mail. Orders are usually shipped within 2 or 3 business days. Shipping costs are based on books weighing 2.2 LB, or 1 KG. If your book order is heavy or oversized or a multiple in books we will contact you to let you know that extra shipping is required. Insurance costs are usually dictated by the shippers, should they be higher than normal, then we will contact you for your acceptance.
