How do I convert my current inventory to BiblioDirector?

Return to what I was doing

There are two options for converting your current inventory to BiblioDirector.

1) Download your current inventory from Biblio

If you are already listing on Biblio, simply email bookseller-support@biblio.com and request a download of your inventory list from Biblio. We'll provide you with a file that can be imported directly into BiblioDirector. The data will be limited to what we have for you in our database, so make sure that it is up to date before requesting your download.  You may first wish to send a purge and replace from your current database.

2) Convert your inventory from another format

You can export a complete inventory file from your current software, and have that file converted to a format which can be imported directly into BiblioDirector.

We have an online conversion tool for booksellers who want to convert to BiblioDirector from another inventory management program. Click here for the conversion tool.

You can easily convert several common file types to a format which can be imported directly into BiblioDirector. If your current format does not appear in the list of common file types you see on that page, please drop us an email at bookseller-support@biblio.com, and we will be happy to assist you with a custom conversion.

Once you have downloaded the inventory file we have provided, be sure to save it on your desktop, or another location on your computer where it will be easy to find later.   The file will be "zipped" or "compressed" for transfer, and the file name will end with ".zip".  Double-click on the file name to un-zip it.  A second file with then appear, and that file name will end with ".txt".  The ".txt" version is the one that you will choose for import (it can also be opened using a spreadsheet program).

Next, open your copy of BiblioDirector and click on the "Items" tab.  Please note, clicking on "Add New Item" and "Show Inventory List" will also get you to the tools you need.  You will see some additional menus appear at the top of your computer screen called "Special" and "Records".

Click on Records > Advanced > First time Import from Biblio. A separate window will come up which asks you to "Please be sure you have a Biblio.com generated file to import before continuing."  As long as you have your file from Biblio, click on "Continue".

A window will come up which allows you to choose the file from your computer that you want to import.  Select the file downloaded from Biblio and the import process will begin.   It should only take a few moments to import smaller files.  For larger inventory files it may take a few minutes to complete the import.

I was delighted with my order and your service. The book arrived in time for the occasion that I needed it for. I was thrilled to be able to find an out-of-print copy.
