Quarto cloth with blindstamped title. 185pp. Illiustrated with color photos and also beautiful painting reproductions on textured paper. Presentation copy from Fernan Ibanez, Executive Vice President (CEO) of Foreign Investment Committee to "John Hannah and Escondido for their support for our activites," and signed by Ibanez. The gilt sticker label of the Committee is affixed at the bottom of the blank preliminary page the inscription is on. This book is a splendid tribute to the nation of Chile and its people. Fine copy in vg dj with minor chipping at head & toe of backstrip just intruding onto front panel, and closed tears right on the corner up the backstrip. Poetry and quotes from the Bible and other sources make up the text.

Tokyo: Shobunsha (?), 1945. Soft cover. Collectible Very Good. In Japanese. This is a stunning book printed in Japan in 1945. Apparently it is a later printing. It is a book of greatly detailed and colorful Japanese musha-e prints depicting various historical (we presume) and legendary events and exploits from the past, including Samurai battles, and representing or depicting (we understand) the "floating world." Each print is accompanied by an account or story in Japanese, and supposedly many prints are from fine Japanese artists in the 19th century. Oblong decorated fabric over boards, 7" x 15 1/4", cord-tied, with title in gilt. There are 60 prints on 60 leaves with versos blank, plus title and contents pages. The second of Green's first three important books. This copy very good. Only the archival repair of a 1" tear to the fore edge of the front cover, and a small abrasion on the title page where the price sticker was removed keeps this from being a near fine to fine copy. Of course everybody knows signed copies are quite scarce. Of course you want the first edition, but I'm sorry this is the second which probably varies not at all from the first.

Very scarce in the 1st edition. This copy missing the half-title leaf after the ffep. Worn at edges & corners, but without the cloth wearing through. No dj.
