Description:
London, Paris & New York: Cassell, Petter, Galpin & Co, [1880]. First edition. Softcover. Good. Pamphlet (4 3/4" x 7"), sewn as issued. 30pp. Original printed paper wrappers. This free trade pamphlet argues that farmers in America are being harmed by high tariffs on manufactured goods. Written by an Englishman who obviously supports British manufacturing, it claims that western farmers are selling their agricultural products cheaply and yet are being forced to buy manufactured goods at an artificially high price due to tariffs on imports. Light soiling and foxing to wrappers with a few small chips at the edges with no effect to text. A good copy.

Description:
Hardcover. Good. Folio ledger book with 314 pp. of handwritten entries in ink, documenting the witnesses subpeonaed and appearing for trials before the Crawford County Court of Common Pleas. Information includes the name of each trial, the name of each witness, evidence of the subpeona process, the number of days a witness appeared and amounts paid. Witnesses for each trial are categorized as those appearing for the plaintiff or the defendant. Some later entries in 1841 and 1842 also document the attorneys of record. Bound in 3/4 sheepskin with marbled paper boards and a leather label on spine. This witness docket covers a decade of early Ohio legal history, documenting a key aspect of the trial process - both civil and criminal. Hundreds of names appear, including members of the prominent Zane family and one mention of "Doctor Grey Eyes" who presumably was a native American. Also, there is a record of witnesses called in two 1842 trials involving attempted rape. Binding…

[n.p: n.p.], 1872. Fine. One leaf folded into 8 pages. Each page approximately 6 3/4" x 10 1/4" with 2 columns of print. Unopened. This is an 1872 campaign document, supporting U. S. Grant for President. It includes an open letter from William Lloyd Garrison to Charles Sumner, dated August 3, 1872, which chastises Sumner for supporting Horace Greeley for President and for encouraging new-enfranchised "colored" people to vote against Grant. There is also an open letter from James G. Blaine to Sumner with a similar message. Finally, there is a letter from John A. Dix opposing Greeley's candidancy and an analysis of war debt reduction during the Grant administration.

Boston: World Peace Foundation, 14-Oct. World Peace Foundation Pamphlet. Softcover. Very good. 12mo pamphlet. Stapled, as issued. 12pp. Aimed at women in the US, Mead argued that if Julia Ward Howe were still living, she would be opposing World War I in Europe, just as she had publicly opposed European hostilities in the 1870's. Mead argued that "militarism [was] the foe of woman's progress. "Julia Ward Howe's Peace Crusade. Slight tanning to front page. Small date stamp (1 Jan 1915) on inner margin of page 3.
