Brown cloth with gilt sp. lettering inc. lib. number at bottom, no obvious faults. xvi + 93; Shropshire County Library's heraldic plate to fr. pastedown + a couple of lib. numbers to top, rear end-paper has a loan sheet with loan dates from 1939-1946, discarded stamp and brown remnant of ticket pocket to rear pastedown, otherwise internally clean, tight and unmarked. A quite attractive copy despite lib. provenance. William Brown (1881-1952) was a quite eminent British psychologist of the inter-war period whose books covered a range of topics from psychometrics to personality and psychotherapy. He was also invloved in shell-shock treatment at Craiglockhart during the Great War. Now unjustly largely forgotten, perhaps due in part to his hum-drum name. This has 6 chapters on topics including International Relations, Ethics and Group Morality and Unconscious Forces and War. 13.5 cm x 19 cm

K.C.H.', otherwise no internal markings, endpapers browned facing pastedowns, internally tight; covers sound but edge & corner rubbing, two part-cup rings on fr.+a few other minor surface marks, sp.sl.faded. An acceptable copy despite surface faults to cover. Inc. an opening chapter on 'Fear Neuroses' by J.H. MacDonald, the remainder are on physical wounds, inc.one on air-raid injuries. Seem to be fairly scarce.

Unclipped jacket is clean but top edge slightly curled due to very slight extension above cover edge, chip across top sp. extending 3 cms onto front, max, width 05 cm, tiny nick top back edge and internally closed tear beside fr. joint, now barely visible, will add protective sleeve when ordered. Provides an interesting insight into home front and political affairs 1940-1943 from highly patriotic angle, his spelling seems to go awry occasionally (spotted 'edition;' for 'addition' and 'your' for 'yore'). Good/No Jacket. 12.5 Cm x 18.5 Cm. 148 pp.; front endpaper inscribed 'To James Douglas/ in appreciation of an/ article in the Sunday Express/from Edward Glover'; otherwise internally clean, tight and unmarked bar some faint tiny brown flecks to endpapers; front cover has faint wrinkle down centre, spine very tanned and end-rubbed, tanning extending to strip alongside joint on back, front subfaded almsot to white, though slightly less to right of wrinkle, small brown stain to part of bottom front edge. Small 1937-dated press cutting slipped in - 'DW' with date suggests it is from Daily Worker. Written from a non-dogmtaic psychoanalytically informed angle. Actually 4 essays not 3 as billed. Apparently very scarce.
