Contemporary ownership inscription Ref: Sammlung Hirsch IV, 1230. Laid in is a 1857 Broadside for a Munich performance of Lucrezia Borgia, the melodramatic opera by Gaetano Donizetti; 34 x 22.5 cm. The broadside is apparently unrecorded by OCLC.

North Wales, only, but complete for that section. Boards heavily scuffed; some light scuffing along joints and edges of boards; small chips at spine tips and corners. Marginal browning, but views are unscathed.

Dust jacket chipped and torn at head of spine and along edges of front panel (affecting a portion of the lettering).

Discreet markings (ownership signatures, bookplate) on front endpapers; some light foxing; but overall internally nice and clean. Sabin 102094. The frontispiece shows Waterton's "Nondescript Man," a hirsute creature composed of various features of man and beast. Wateron was an expert in taxidermy, and perhaps a bit eccentric -- rumored to have an entire human being preserved in his home, which nearly caused a local riot. Scarce dust jacket heavily chipped and spine lacking, tho text (including ads on rear panel) is unscathed; held together in mylar.
