Description:
Dobie, J. Frank from the reminiscences of John Young . As thrilling as any tale of fiction is this real story of the Texas brush range and the first cowboys. It is the story of the land where cattle by tens of thousands were killed on the prairie and where the "Skinning War" was fought. It is the story of the Chisholm Trail up to Abilene and the Platte; of establishing a ranch on the free grass of the Texas Panhandle; of roping elk in Colorado; of trailing Billy the Kid in New Mexico; of the grim lands of the Pecos. And it is the story of John Young, old-time vaquero who was trail driver, hog chaser, sheriff, ranger, hunter of Mexican bandits, horse thief killer, prairie fire fighter, ranch manager, and other things - a man who wanted experience and got it hot. Tan cloth with blue lettering. xvi, 302pp. Frontispiece, line drawings, map endpapers. BASIC TEXAS BOOKS 44 (D). GRAFF 1100. RAMPAGING HERD 696. SIX SCORE 44. Very heavy rubbing with loss along the spine joint, outer edge, extremities, spine.

Description:
Uncorrected Page Proof - 365pp - From a cell of nine men in 1925, the Vietnamese Communists grew by December 1976 into a massive party with over 1.5 million members and the organizational and military capabilities to defeat the United States. What factors account for the outstanding success of the Indochinese Communist Party? In this book, Huynh Kim Khanh traces the Vietnamese Communist movement from its inception as a radical youth group founded by Ho Chi Minh (then Nguyen Ai Quoc) to its half-planned, half-accidental victory in 1945.

Description:
1887, First Edition 350 pp. Lacks title page. Red cloth with black illustration and lettering. Front cover has "1863" and "188?" on it. The fold out map of lower New York bears the c. date of 1886. This is a detailed account (350 pages) of the Draft-Riot in New York City in July of 1863, "just after the battle of Gettysburg. The entire organized militia of the cities of New York and Brooklyn was absent on duty, having been drawn away by the national government for temporary service in that memorable campaign. Owing to the war, nevertheless, both cities contained large numbers of men who had had experience in the field and were thereby prepared for the emergency." (This from the Preface.) There is a two-inch tear in the attached section of the map, mostly in the margin, and the rear hinge is broken. Pages are a bit brittle but clean and tight. Front free endpaper and adjoined blank are disbound. Library pocket on front endpaper. Also a library call number on spine, which is very dark.… Read More
