Includes: Special Map A, a folded map laid in. Also laid in: 12 plates of Aerial Photographs, Plot Map of Photographs, Photo Coordinate Atlas Grid, and two cardboard Protractors (one in degrees, the other in Mils). It was a training manual for military soldiers. Condition: Expected age toning, shelf and age wear, age darkening of cloth spine; gutter cracked at Copyright and Publishers' Forward pages; several pages have pinholes at top borders. The large folded map, Map A, has several tears. However, overall, book and laid-in material are Very Good. Complete, and very uncommon in this condition. IT'S ACTUALLY THE 1894 FIRST HARDCOVER EDITION IN LEATHER. Five raised ridges (six panels with illustration of anchor in each of five panels). Gilt borders on cover, edges of covers; lettering, anchor designs, and borders in gilt on spine. Bottom edge and endpapers marbled. Frontispiece and additional illustrations throughout text. Condition: Top cover looks like it detached at one time and former owner or binder affixed it back to its original position. Heavy wear to spine/ridges/joints with some loss of gilt.
