The radiant gold, red, and deep royal blue thread can't be precisely reproduced in a scan, but the scan does provide a good idea. Still as engagingly luminous as when new. Apparently scarce, and collectible; I've found only two other examples in my searching, and neither owner knew anything about the unit - just that this is, indeed, a US Military insignia.
