All three volumes have sunned spines, some perimeter toning, and two have chipping on the crown (one with a 3/8" x 1/2" size piece missing). The books are mostly unread as all have uncut leaves, yet there are occasional over opened pages, frayed edges(due to uneven paper sizes) and waviness o the fore-edges. These are oversized volumes measuring approximately 10 1/8" x 13 1/2". Priority and international mailings will require additional popstage.

The volume is edge rubbed with some abrasions, bumped at the spine ends, and rubbed and soiled on the front and rear panels affecting the black color of the cloth. The red spine lettering well preserved. The uniformly corner clipped dust jacket (price of $2.00 is present), protected in a sleeve, is rubbed with some edge wrinkling and shallow chips, and is wrapped slightly off-center.

Marvelously inscribed on the front endpaper, "For Dora Mayer, In your search for Beauty, always - there is the Dirt Road. Follow it - Sincerely," and SIGNED by Olivia Young. Illustrated with 27 photographs of California scenes. The volume is gently bumped at the corners, all else is fine.

Little, Brown, 1978-01-01. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good+. Signed. Signed on a bookplate which is affixed to the half title page. The volume is edge rubbed with bumping and wrinkling at the spine end areas. The unclipped dust jacket, sleeved in mylar, is lightly edge rubbed with nicks at the corners and spine ends, and a crease at the spine crown.

strahan & Co, 1870. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good. Private edition dedicated to The Lady Marian Alford. Bound in full leather with blind stamped borders and decoration, 5 raised bands, gilt stamped spine lettering, all edges gilt. Pastedowns are gilt stamped leather with dark green paper pasted on inside of middle border. The leather is rubbed with abrasions on the corners, spine ends, joints, spine bands, and author's name. There is occasional foxing to the preliminary pages; text is clean. Affixed to the verso of the front endpaper is a spotted (foxed) Alford House bookplate.

London: Ward, Lock, & Bowden, Limited, 1894. Hardcover. Very Good. Limited to 250 copies, of which this is # 171. Blueish gray cloth quarter bound with gilt stamped vellum spine; sewn in nylon ribbon. The volume is corner bumped with boards exposed, and there is a bump along the bottom edges causing a 1/4" tear in the cloth on the front panel. The vellum is mildly soiled and toned, somewhat obscuring the gilt lettering. There is offsetting to the pastedowns and endpapers, and the text leaves are gently age toned.

Limited Editions Club, 1943. Hardcover. Very Good. Signed. Usually limited to 1500 copies, we can find no statement of limitation in the volume but this is # 598 SIGNED on the colophon page by the illustrator, Paul Landacre. Gilt stamped brown leather and brown stamped cream toned cloth. The volume has wear (abrasions) on the corners, spine ends, joints, folds and Spine. The cream cloth is sporadically soiled. The gutters are mildly darkened and the text leaves are are gnetly toned. The chemise is spine toned and has incipient stage splilts on the bottom joints. The slipcase is is also toned, has abrasions on the opening endges and one facing panel, and there is 1½" split on one edge.

Doubleday & McClure Co, 1899. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good. Burgundy cloth with blind stamped borders and decoration on front and rear panels, gilt stamped lettering on spine. First state with repeating lines on pp. 108-9 and missing text p. 112. The volume is lightly edge rubbed, sunned on the spine and top edge of the front panel, and there is light wrinkling on the spine crown. The interior is in excellent condition with light offsetting to the end papers. From the Larry McMurtry collection with his "Stirrup" bookplate on the front pastedown. Lacks errata slip.

Fine volume in a severely clipped dust jacket (the clip starts near the top of the front fold and diagonally cuts the last word in the first line of flap dialogue. The jacket is sleeved in mylar.

The volume is perimeter toned, lightly sunned on the spine and has a repaired hinge between the frontis and title page. The unclipped dust jacket, sleeved in mylar, is soiled, sun toned on the spine, edge chipped (to a depth of 1/2" on the bottom front joint), and reinforced with thin strips of tape on the outside edges.

The unclipped dust jacket is sunned on the spine, lightly perimeter toned, and has shallow chips at the spine ends and corners reinforced with thin pieces of tape on the outside . The jacket is protected in mylar.

The volume is slighty canted, has a faintly sunned spine, and there is a small 1/4" x 1/2" stain on the bottom page edges. An ink inscription resides on the front endpaper and the text leaves are gently toned.

Librairie Stock, Paris, 1931. First Edition. Softcover. Good. Limited to 1650 copies, this is # 1010. Text is entirely in FRENCH. The covers are edge worn, and have creases on the spine and splits on the front joints. There is light perimeter age toning to the pages and the the book has a faint "old book" smell (not mustiness). There is a supplied Loterie Nationale dust jacket.

The volume is gently turned on the spine tail.The mylar sleeved dust jacket is fine.

First edition with "Published, April, 1918" on the copyright page and "W.F.Hall Printing Company, Chicago" at the base of the copyright page. The volume has gentle spine wear, 2 faint inked names and date on the front pastedown, and a rear hinge just starting. Accompanying the volume is a check from the account of Edgar Rice Burroughs, which is attached to a light cardboard backing, and is SIGNED by him. The dust jacket, which has undergone some restoration, is edge-worn; has soft creases, especially at flaps, and there is some color loss at the folds. There is soiling and light toning to white panels, and the flaps are clipped (the price of $1.35 is present on the spine). Repairs are visible on the verso of the dust jacket, and include mended chips at head and foot of spine panel, edges of front and rear panels, and the flap folds. A. C. McClurg, 1923. First Edition. Hardcover. Good +/FACSIMILE: Fine. First printing with "Published March, 1923" on the copyright page. The volume is soiled, edge rubbed, bumped at the spine ends, and has a few white spots on the front and rear panels. The pages are gently toned and there is some offsetting to the endpapers from the pastedowns. The binding is still reasonably tight and the hinges are unbroken. The facsimile jacket, sleeved in mylar, is fine.

A. C. McClurg & Co, 1918. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good -/ Very Good. Signed. First printing with "Published, April, 1918" and W. F. Hall on the copyright page. Inscribed, SIGNED, and dated (Dec. 26th, 1918) by Edgar Rice Burroughs on the front endpaper. The volume is lightly edge rubbed, toned on the spine and has had the spine ends professionally reinforced. There is bookplate of collectors Roy and Dela White mounted to the front pastedown, a stain to the bottom page edges, pages 19-40 are wrinkled and creased near the top due to a binding problem, and the rear hinge has been strengthened. The dust jacket is clipped on all corners, edge rubbed with shallow chips, closed tears and creases, and is mounted onto a reinforced backing. The jacket is now in a Brodart sleeve.

The endpapers and pastedowns have been renewed and generally the interior is in very good condition with light aging to the pages. The mylar sleeved dust jacket, is a FACSIMILE and is fine.
