Lyrics to 149 songs; most of them from the 18th century or earlier, with several on French & Indian War & Rev. War; one on Bonaparte's Retreat, one on Battle of New Orleans, the apparent latest acclaims Jackson the new President (i.e. 1830); there are none from the blackface-minstrel era which began in the early 1840's,(nor the popular "I'm Afloat", 1841, which was said to "stem the tide of ni**erism") ; this compilation apparently was made in the 30's. The publishers changed their name from Turner & Fisher to Fisher & Brother in 1850. Good; fairly solid, unmarked; pages are very good, good rag paper; very litle foxing, mainly around an erased name at top of front free-endpaper;feels just a little loose, but holds togeter well;--bottom string broken at rear, seems to be intact through most of the text block; corners worn.
