Spine with five gilt-ruled raised bands with elaborate gilt decoration to gilt-boxed compartments, with tan and black title / volume labels. Double gilt fillet and blind-tooled borders with cornices to both boards. Nicely marbled end-papers and paste-downs. All page edges marbled.
CONDITION
In very good condition with all bindings holding firm and tight. There are a few minor surface scratches and marks, with a little rubbing and creasing to hinges, but nothing at all serious. All glit work is in very good condition indeed. Internally, pages are very clean… Read More

CONDITION
The bindings are in good firm condition with intact hinges. There are a few very light surface marks, some nicks to board edges and a couple of small marks. Slight loss of leather to corner of spine top of vol II. Moderate bumping to board corners.

Bound in half tan calf over marbled boards. Later spine with five gilt-ruled bands with green title and author label, with gilt motifs to compartments. A number of small wood engravings throughout.
CONDITION
Good condition overall with binding holding nice and firm. A few surface scratches and marks with some knocks to boards and some small losses and nibbles of leather to edges, and bumping to corners. Internally the pages are largely clean with just the odd foxing patch and spot, and a little grubbiness to end-papers and paste-downs. Neat ink inscription dated 1875 to front end-paper.

David John Moore Cornwell (born 1931), better known by his pen name John le Carré, is a British author of espionage novels. During the 1950s and 1960s, he worked for both the Security Service (MI5) and the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6).
