Original glossy white paper wrappers printed in green ink (somewhat worn, edges slightly chipped, spine with vertical cracks and faded titling) the publisher's list of Diamond Classics on the back wrapper lists these two titles as individual volumes- not a double volume. Jones' Diamond Classics. Welsh lists a copy of Rasselas, a University edition from 1825 for both titles and a later printing of 1830 (Welsh, 4069, 2047 & 2048). This printed wrappers bound double volume, produced a further five years after the individual publications, is a rare publishing/academic curiosity- a publisher using up leftover stock, perhaps, that did not achieve popularity, I assume, possibly due to its innate fragility. Impeccable provenance: From the library of Sir G.S. Bishop, youngest ever Deputy Secretary who was at the Ministry of Food 1945-9. This ephemeral document is quite scarce on the open market. Wilmotte & Associés, 2009 Recent Future Projects 01 This is an outstanding and scarce architectural design book produced for international architects Wilmotte & Associés. The firm was set up in Paris in 1975 by Jean-Michel Wilmotte and their practice now spans the globe. The size of the book is 280x235mm, portrait and is casebound. The 232pp text is made up using "French-folded" sections (this is where the folded edges are on the foredge of the book) on Offenbach Bible 60gsm which gives it a sensational light feel and flows beautifully in the hand. This is complimented by the lighter than usual boards used to make the case which means it has a nice flexible feel. The book has a 20mm spine. The print result on the Offenbach Bible is simply stunning. The fluorescent orange used on the cover and on 8 dividers in the book which are printed on a coated paper prints equally well on the Offenbach Bible 60gsm! Leopold Collin, Paris, 1809 NICOLAÏ (Christophe-Frédéric), a famous German critic, born in Berlin in 1733, died in 1811; "Historical research on the use of false hair and wigs, in ancient and modern times". This handbook of hairdressing was designed in part for the use of personal attendants of elegant French society and contains details on powdering wigs and false hair. It contains two folding engraved prints showing various hairstyles. It is bound in contemporary pale salmon paper covered boards with a gilt leather label on the spine. Biff., 1917 Manufactured for BIFF British Red Cross Football Game Service, 151 Grosvenor Road, London S.W. Game comes in a 2'6 inch brown wallet, with printed instructions printed in red and black, and a playing surface board but is missing the red and white cardboard counters. The wallet is in poor condition with wear to the front and split along the edges. The hinged board is in good condition on the playing surface and the baize is almost entirely intact with the green and red colouring quite bright. It has repeated small indentations damaging the back of one half of the board. The double sided sheet of rules is creased and slightly soiled with minor wear at the edges. Biff was said to combine the science of draughts and chess with the excitement of football movements and the board was marked out for both football and rugby.
