  • Edition: 1st Edition
  • Book condition: Fine
  • Quantity available: 1
Gollancz. London, Gollancz, 2010-2014. First Edition. First Impression. Hardback. Three [3] volumes. Fine condition. All three books signed. An excellent trilogy. Rajaniemi pours all his ideas into the first novel, but manages to continue the story without letting the quality slip. Volume one is signed by the author thus: "Hannu Rajaniemi / 30th September 2010 / All because of the thief / (p14)". Volume two is signed thus: "5\9\2012 / Hannu Rajaniemi", and is numbered 77/100. Volume three is signed thus: "Hannu Rajaniemi \ 6/7/2014", and is numbered 77/100. As far as we know there was no limited edition of the first volume, at least not of the first issue. The first issue was lacking the dedication left, and was reportedly pulped though I can find no reference to the pulping (it seems more likely that there was a second impression with the correction). In Broderick and Di Filippo's SF the 101 Best Novels 1985-2010 [286]. [6464, Hyraxia Books]. 2010-2014 . Fine. Hardcover. 1st ... Read more

Queen Sheba's Ring

H. Rider Haggard

  • Edition: 1st Edition
  • Book condition: Very Good
  • Quantity available: 1
London: Eveleigh Nash. London, Eveleigh Nash, 1910. First Edition. First Impression. Hardback. A very good book in a poor jacket. Inscribed by the author. Locke's copy as mentioned in Spectrum volume one, page 101. Inscribed 'To Hall from his affec. Uncle H. Rider Haggard. Ditchingham 12 Sept 1910'. On the front endpaper is a manuscript poem. My default position would be to suggest that the poem is not in Haggard's hand, given evidence to prove it was. George was vastly more familiar with Haggard than I am, and, to quote 'I feel about 70% sure that this poem was penned by Haggard himself. If not Haggard, it was, in view of the presentation, almost certainly the work of a member of his family.' - whatever the story, it's a nice addition to the book. That said, when George offered it in 2005 under Sotheby's (where it didn't sell), the catalogue description suggested the poem was not in Haggard's hand. Anyway, enough of the possible mss poem on the fly leaf; this is a pres ... Read more
