Rare édition latine de ce chef-d'oeuvre de la gravure rhénane de la Renaissance. Cette remarquable suite aurait été éditée par les humanistes Geiler von Kaysersberg (1445-1510) et Mathias Ringmann (1482-1511). Parue initialement en 1506, elle connut plusieurs tirages. Elle comprend 25 superbes bois à pleine page décrivant la Passion, dont 21 sont signés des initiales VG. Les 24 premiers sont l'oeuvre de l'artiste bâlois Urs Graf, et le dernier, représentant la Résurrection, est attribué à Hans Wechtlin. Certaines scènes, supposées se passer à Jérusalem, se déroulent dans un décor alsacien.

A remarkable testimony to the friendship between two of the most prominent French painters of the nineteenth century.
Some foxing on the board on which the picture is pasted (heavier on the back), photography in good overall condition but with a few defects (small tear on the inferior part and some rubbing at the level of the trees on the right of the picture).
