The four voumes of this series, which range from 144 to 176 pages, are heavily illustrated in duotone or black & white line. Peter and his older sister Polly, whis is 8, Howe live in the country and learn a lot (given the very easy reading level of the books by a former primary-school teacher). The children enjoy seasonal activities such as tapping maple trees in spring or skating in winter. The books are considered culturally important, but they are also fun. They would still make great easy-to-read for children in 2nd or 3rd grade. Autumn has red-inckname "Julia" on front endpaper. Sprig has penciled name inside front cover. Philadelphia: Arnold and Company, 1886. Brown cloth with black type and illustration. Good. Similar in style and coverage to Mrs. Rombauer's (St. Louis) cookbook but with many household hints (e.g. What to Save and How to Use it) and blank pages for additional recipes. Very interesting to anyone who cares about 19th-century cookery. The main problem with this copy is that the cover is largely detached from the book and has tears along the edge of the spine. The pages, except the frontispiec and title, are all still attached properly to each other.

A historical sketch of the development of the world's greatest pilotage system and of the world's greatest port (as it says on cover) Slight tear along spine and some small water damage, but bright and tight

Chicago: S,C, Griggs and COmpany, 1886. First edition. Green cloth with gold and black type. Very good. Taylor was a prominent 19th-century man of letters, lecturer, and war correspondent (during the Civil War). This copy has his obituary from 1887 (Cleveland) pasted on the second endpaper. Still very bright, although scuffed a bit on the back cover. A previous owners bookplate is pasted on the front endpaper.

The definitive edition of Keats' poetry. Spine faded but book is in great condition shape, tight, with all the pages complete, binding in excellent condition, and no internal markings.

New York: Modern LIbrary, 1934. First edition. harcover cloth. Fine. A first edition of this Modern Library Giant, the seventeeth book in the series. Ex-libary from a collecction at a senior-living center, so contains libary stams on the endpapers and title page but did not circulate widely

The two Testaments of Francois Villon with a running commentary and notes, also the ballades of the Grand Testament translated into English with a translation of various Ballades and Rondeaux from the general poems. This copy has water damage, and the cover is partly separated from the pages, but the text is clear throughout and the pages themselves are well bound.

Dylan Thomas is among the greatest 20th-century poets and many of his lines (such as "Rage, rage against the dying of the light") are familiar to all. This is a complete collection of the poetry, including Juvenalia in an appendix, over 200 poems in all.

A beautiful little half-leather volume in French (no English translations) of the complete poems of Lamartine. Slight scuffing of edges of binding and a tiny bit cocked--either not really noticeable

Boston: Houghton Mifflin, 1899. Hardcover. Very Good. Many of the illustrations are full-page. Type is in two columns, but very readable. Red leather covers with girlt eding on front and back covers, Damage is that the front cover has separated from the book, which otherwise would be in fine condition, Inscription on front-endpaper: "First Prize. Won by Frederick B. FInchh " etc. in ink and dated Brooklyn, NY, Dec. 330, 1900.

London: William Paterson & Co., 1892. First edition thus. hardcover: half-leather with marbled paper (marbled paper also used for endpapers). Very Good. Volume 3 or a three-volume set of all of Burns' poems. This volume ranges from "On Glenriddell's Fox breaking his chain: A Fragment" to "Song - Fairest Maid on Devon's Banks," including such favorites as "Sweet Afton" and "A Red, Red Rose" ("My love is like a red, red rose..."). Also contains one etching and an index of first lines of all the poems. There is some wear around edges, corners, and edge of spine. Also there are a few small white spots on the front and back covers (on the paper portion).Volume second is also available and may be purchased separately or the two together.

This volume ranges from "The Brigs of Ayr" to "Song - The Posie," including such favorites as "Auld Lang Syne" and "John Anderson, My Jo." Also contains a oouple of nice etchings of Scottish scenes. Volume third is also available separately or the two may be purchased together,There is some minor wear at edges and along the edge of the spine, otherwise everything is perfect.

London: T. Noble, 1847. Hardcover. Very Good. A small volume, the size of a 3 x 5 in. card, but with 243 numbered pages. Embossed cloth with very bright gold inlayed front cover and spine. Pages still bright and tight, with gilt edge There are three penciled numbers, on front endpaper and frontispiece. (which has an inset etching< "The Undying One"

Longon: Thomas Tegg, 1843. Leather_bound. Very Good. Bright gilt embossed on the front and back covers, also gilt-edged pages. This is a tight copy with some wear at the edge of spine. The portrait of Milton and title page are separated by translucent tissue insert.

Anthology of 60 nature poems, mostlry from famous authors (Shakespeare, Emerson, Tennyson, Browning, Keats, etc. ) interspersed with full-page moody b&w photographs that illustrate lines from one of the poems, each photo protected by a tissue. Spine quite faded and some scratched on front cover, but otherwise in excellent condition with no loose pages or foxing.

Very Good Plus book in damaged but complete dust jacket. This edition contains all eleven of Frost's previously published books complete. Some very minor foxing on edges of some pages.
