Publisher's original green cloth over bevel edged boards, lettered in gilt to spine; decorations to front cover with title in debossed green lettering on black background bordered in gilt. Book Condition: wear to extremities with pinspots of scuffing to both covers, sun toned spine, lettering dulled. Bright and fresh gilt decorations on cover, shiny gilt edges all around. Very sound binding, all joints and hinges strong and intact. Book consists of leaves of very heavy stock printed recto only, each leaf featuring an engraving in steel and a portion of verse. The first leaf differs, featuring an engraving in steel only, then followed by title page (w/ copyright printed on verso, the only leaf printed on both sides). A lovely, sound example of this charming piece of Lincolniana. Very Good+ at the least. designs by L.B. Humphrey ; engraved by John Andrew & Son.

Original typescript of the final stanza (stanza 9) of Kantor's famous poem: "Abraham Lincoln at Gettysburg", signed by Mackinlay Kantor (most likely typed by Kantor himself though that cannot be established) . Provenance: purchased at auction from large collection. From Wikipedia: MacKinlay Kantor, was an American journalist, novelist and screenwriter. He wrote more than 30 novels, several set during the American Civil War, and was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1956 for his 1955 novel, "Andersonville". He also wrote the novel "Gettysburg", set during the Civil War.
