While the book itself is in very good condition with no noticeable defects beyond light wear from reading, the dust jacket is only in fair condition: it has two significant tears on the front, a few small light stain spots, a wear spot in the upper right corner of the front, some light creases on the front side of the spine, and general sun-fading of the front of the dust jacket.

Published 1843 by R. Ackermann; 191 Regent St., London. Compilation of sporting articles written for the New Sporting Magazine in that year. Binding worn, especially on hinges and edges, but still whole and sound. SOME PAGES MISSING: specifically pages 7-10 and pages 281-282. Other pages loose but still in binding. Small pencil markings of price on front endpapers. Some darkening and foxing of the edges of pages, especially on the illustration plates.

First edition, first printing signed by the author. Signature on first front blank page. Some minor ink spotting on top left corner of front cover and spine dust jacket from a printing error (see 2nd picture). Minor shelf wear to the head and tail of dust jacket. Otherwise, binding tight and in excellent condition.
