Originally published anonymously in 1956, the story is set in a luxury hotel at Lake Como in 1906, and deals with an un-naturally close brother and sister and their effect on the aristocratic guests. Otherwise a good, internally clean and tight copy of this slim hard-cover book, a one-act play by the author of "The Brook Kerith". The play, set in London in 1599 just after a performance of Shakespeare's Richard II, involves Shakespeare, Burbage and others waiting to meet Queen Elizabeth. Originally published in March 1898, but with many errors, the book was issued with the corrections in this "Silver Library" edition in January 1899 (1440 copies), with a reprint in February 1901 (1000 copies of which 337 sold). The endpapers in this copy have the swan and ship motif with the date 1726, which was used with the first edition, other copies have 1724. Rosemary Howard met her future husband Vincent Uwemedimo, a Nigerian lawyer, when studying teaching in London, and went to live in Nigeria after their marriage. The book deals mostly with their life in Nigeria. She later established Hillside Preparatory School in Calabar in 1971, staying in charge for thirty years before her retirement. She died in 2012. Original owner has covered the book in clear sticky-back plastic, a mark inside front cover where an address label (?) has been removed, minor scuffing to outer corners of cover, a muddy mark inside back cover and on the last few pages, but otherwise a good clean tight copy of this soft-cover book. An account of the trial of Patrick Sellar in 1816, when he was accused of culpable homicide in that he caused the death of an old woman who died of burns after Sellar's men set fire to her house in 1814 when evicting tenants of the Sutherland Estates at Strathnaver. Wilmington, Delaware: Cedar Tree Books, 2007. Deals with Peter Munuit, who founded the first permanent European settlement in Delaware in 1638 when working for the Swedish crown, and with his ship the Kalmar Nyckel, which made four voyages across the Atlantic to the new colony, bringing new settlers and supplies. Minuit was drowned in the Caribbean in 1638, and the Kalmar Nyckel was sold in 1651. Originally published in March 1990, this is a second printing from March 2007. 225pp, 16pp b&w illustrations..
