A New Yorker clipping about Claude Lévi-Strauss hand-dated Feb. 2, 1968 is tipped onto the rear free endpaper and an advertisement for The Savage Mind clipped from the NY Times is also loosely laid-in at the rear.

A very rare Churchill item that Big Game bibliophiles have made almost impossible to find. The author accompanied Churchill on his 1908 “African Journey.” The frontispiece photo here shows Churchill with the author in the bush. Churchill’s extended Introduction states that this book, "brings vividly back to me mellow and charming recollections of British East Africa and Uganda." This is a very good copy, without dust jacket. The spine is faded and a trifle shelfworn, the covers are beautiful, a lovely cloth period binding in ornate orange and gilt. A handsome vintage bookplate is affixed to the front pastedown alongside a tiny circular numeral sticker. Else fine.
