The full libretto for Rossini's opera The Thieving Magpie, published as a two-shilling programme for performances at the King's Theatre. (The original libretto was by Giovanni Gherardini.) The text is in Italian and English, on facing pages. Includes an advertising handbill for one night's performance, which featured not only La Gazza Ladra but also the ballet Nina. Deborah Buller Murphy (nee Drake-Brockman) was born in 1887 in Western Australia, she was also known as Lady (Deborah Vernon) Hackett and Lady Moulden. An artist and mining entrepreneur she was also interested in Australian minerals, specifically in the scarce tantalite found in the Northern Territory and at Wodgina, Western Australia. Known as 'Australia's Tantalite Queen', Buller Murphy founded Tantalite Limited and was the first to recognise the importance of the globally scarce mineral resources of the state. 1st Edition.
