Jakob Hoeflinger (1819-1892), was a native from the Black Forest region who emigrated to Swiss and became a photographer around 1853. He established his very successful business in Bale in 1857. His son Albert (1855-1936) took over the company in 1885. In 1896 he sold it to his cousin August Höflinger (1867-1939), who had joined the management the same year as he.
