Description:
New York: George P. Putnam, 1849 First edition. Original green cloth, decoratively stamped in gilt and blind. . Twelvemo. With a lithographic frontispiece and title-page. Spine extremities lightly rubbed, old rubberstamp on back pastedown, bookplate neatly removed from front pastedown, with resulting offsetting. Still, a very good, bright copy. Mayo (1811-1895) was the son of a Nantucket boat builder. After making a tour of Spain and the Barbary States, he set up a practice in medicine in Ogdensburg, New York. This, his first novel, was based upon his own travels. It was immensely popular, going through nine editions between 1849 and 1900. It was often compared to Melville's Typee, though Mayo asserted in a preface to the fourth edition that Kaloolah was written before Typee was published.

Description:
Graz- Austria: Akademische Druck u. Verlagsanstalt, 1971 Two volumes, consisting of a manuscript facsimile, printed in color and in gold and silver, and a text volume with black and white photographic reproductions. Both volumes are quartos, with the facsimile volume being [16] pp and the text volume being 28 pp. Text volume bound in printed white paper wrappers. Facsimile volume printed on simulated vellum. . A fine set in a very good leather clamshell case lettered and stamped decoratively in gilt, slightly toned at the edges and spine and lightly worn. The facsimile of the Codex Vindobonensis 958 reproduces the ninth century Carolingian manuscript (named for the period of Emperor Charlemagne's reign), which is thought to have been created in the Abbey of Saint-Amand in the north of France. While a Sacramentary is the book for a priest celebrant, containing all and only the words spoken by him, the present work is considered a "Sacramentary fragment," as some of the portions are missing. Blue paper-colored boards, quarter blue leather, with vellum tips. Folio. Text in blue and black. With a reproduction of a bronze plaque commemorating Kaspare Cohn on page [13]. Description:
London: Adam and Charles Black, 1905 One of 500 copies, numbered and signed by John Greenaway, the brother of the artist. With an original pencil sketch by Greenaway inserted. The sketch in this copy is of a girl reading, with her right hand extended. In the margin are two other drawings of the right hand. Original white cloth, decoratively stamped in gilt and blind, top edge gilt. Pictorial endpapers. . Quarto. Frontispiece and fifty-three color plates, thirty-four black and white plates, with tissue guards, and numerous text illustrations. Spine a bit discolored, light soiling to covers. Hinges starting to crack, but very sound. "Miss Greenaway's correspondence, autobiographical notes, her records, and several firsthand recollections of friends and acquaintances were admirably compiled and documented in that volume. No new biography could possibly be attempted without reference to it" (Brian Home, Kate Greenaway Book, 1976).
