Brown leather covers with attractive blind stamping, gold decorations and gold lettering on front and spine. Front paste down hinge has some tears but hinge still sollid. Original binding with no repairs. Covers have wear at corners and few chips. Remarkable condition considering 120 years old. 737 pages plus contents. This is a large book (9.5" X 12") and quite heavy. Will require additional postage depending on location.

Signed by author on FFE in black felt tip pen.

While on duty as part of the American Army of occupation in California at Los Angeles the author was ordered to join Kit Carson and carry a dispatch to Independence, Missouri. Leather binding back cover detached front loose. Gold decorations just visible. Interior in remarkable condition considering age. This is volume III. Many illustrations of shields and family crests. Includes a supplement "Shewing antiquity, dignity and use of armories with above 900 examples engrav'd and explained for the better attaining a perfect knowledge of the noble science of Heraldry." Each section is paginated but well over 500 pages total.

Light rust covers with brown decorations and lettering on front and spine. Signed by the author on the quotation page. DJ front flap has bottom corner cut off may have be printed that way. Price of $3.95 on top of flap. 209 pages. A beautiful book and story.
