Description:
History of New York City, From Discovery to The Present Day by William Stone. Virtue & Yorston, New York 1872. 20 engravings and 85 woodcuts, many beautiful portraits of American historical figures.
Marbled boards with 3/4 brown leather corners and spine/edge. Board edges have rubbing and chipping. Board corners are exposed and slightly sloped. Spine face/edges have creasing/lightly stressed. Outer page fore edges have marbling design as well as toning. Inner boards and end pages also have marble pattern. Some plates/surrounding pages have foxing. Most plates have original tissue-guards. Tissue-guards have transfer staining from plates. Pages have light toning around the edges. Front end pages, title pages, frontispiece/tissue guard all have foxing. Book held well.
