Binding and hinges secure. Jacket protected in mylar, but has sustained major chipping and loss, as pictured. Some moderate staining to jacket spine. Spine ends and board corners have started to soften. Slight sunning to spine under jacket. Overall, a decent reading copy.

Pale staining to fore edge of boards with deterioration where an apparent clasp was once installed. Leather on spine and covers are wrinkled, creased and chipping in places, especially around the edges and to spine. Hinges cracked though twine binding remains mostly intact and cover and all pages are attached. Foxing to outer edge of text block and around the interior edges of many pages, mostly limited to the first 100 or so pages of book. Pages are free of any writing.

Rubbing to jacket with small tears and wear around the edges including a large piece missing at top right corner of back cover. Slight sun fading to jacket spine. Boards are straight and clean, binding is strong and spine is square. Some sparse highlighting, underlining and notes in the margins of text.

Binding is cracked near center of book with bottom edge of signature through page 16 no longer attached, but all pages still intact. Pages are unmarked except for pencil on page 1 and gift bookplate. Back endpaper is missing a large section. Binding has a slight lean. Boards have rubbing around all edges especially the spine. All corners are bumped. Sunned spine has cracking and chips and ribs around ends.

Spine ends are lightly chipped and fraying with small rips at top of spine and front gutter. Surfaces are wrinkling due to water damage.
