Near Fine. Handbill of light blue paper stock; folded to 4p. , 8.5" x 5.5", printed on all sides, advertising lectures by Garland Anderson, with his portrait photo on front page. Dated 1935 in pencil upper margin by previous owner. Top leading corner tips minor dog-ear. A pioneer playwright and moralistic philosopher of constructive thinking, Garland Anderson was the first African American known to have a serious full-length drama produced on Broadway. Active in the theatre for over 10 years during the 1920s and 1930s, he achieved national prominence as "the San Francisco Bellhop Playwright." .
