Includes prospectuses for Roses of Sharon; Bligh's Voyage in the Resource; Spring, Sunshine and a Chanticleer . . .; The First Fleet; Flowers and Faces; and the Ninety-First Psalm and Hymn to Proserpine. Also included are items more akin to catalogs, including Cockerels in Review for 1960; Golden Cockerel Private Press 1955-1956, British Hand-made Books; The Golden Cockerel Press: A Note on the Press and a List of New Books in hand for 1946; and The Golden Cockerel: British Private Press Books, Chefs-d'oeuvres of Printing for Bibliophiles. Condition of the pieces is generally fine, with a few examples of the common light foxing, one stamped with the name and address of Bumpus' shop in London, and a few hand written notes in one of the catalogs. Quarter dark brown cloth with dramatic cork sides, unpaginated. One of an edition limited to 60 copies signed by Nicholas Parry, who illustrated with wood engravings, and by Mary Parry, who set this book in 14pt. Caslon. "The Gospel According to Saint Mark" was translated into the Midland dialect of English in 1380 by John Purvey. The intention was to present The Gospel in its most vigorous and powerful English form. Fine condition.
